Diabetes is a disease of the pancreas that produces the hormone insulin. It results in high blood sugar levels, a myriad of complications and affects all organs including eyes, heart, kidneys, nerves and foot.
The Division of Diabetology at Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute is a sub-speciality division of the Department of Endocrinology. Through its Diabetic Clinic the Division offers integrated care with specialists from various disciplines participating in the screening, management and prevention of Diabetes and the complications arising out of it. Furthermore the Division conducts the Diabetes Educator Programme to train medical professionals in Management of Diabetes, actively participates in Clinical Research Studies, and organises educational events to raise awareness about Diabetes.
